NY chicken lover!!!!

Congrats on the hatch. When are you getting *your* ducks?

I want geese. Just 3 of them. But I can't get ray to build another house. He's to busy building BROODERS. LOL

I can't get Ken to build another house either.

I have a friend that has year old Wood ducks but they are flighty and not able to be held. I like the look of the Mandarins better anyway. If I can find the time to build a proper Mandarin set-up then I will try to get some. I have WAAAAAYYYYYY too many chickens now though. All the adults (40 or so), 24 - 1 month old Pendesencas and D'Uccles, 25 - 2 day old Chanteclers, some A & M Quail in the bator due next week and 3 people wanting chicks from me ASAP. Oh, and the chicks that hatched in Kindergarten at school this week (15?).

I think you need to have a sale on chicks. Oh wait, you can't do that until you decide which ones you want to keep.

Do you eat your extra roos? I want to learn how to process my roos (I think I have at least 3 already and I just bought an OE roo for breeding purposes) I am hoping to have my silkies go broody next spring/summer and will process any roos before winter to cut down on flock size. If I have to I will have that guy who advertises he will hatch your eggs for half the hatch, hatch eggs for me so I have chickens to process for food.

If anyone in NY, Western MA or VT is ever processing birds and would like an (inexperienced) extra hand, please let me know. I really want to learn and would be willing to put in a days work helping someone for the educatoin on how it is done.

Help!

If anyone knows where to get peafowl babies, please PM me or post it here.
My new peachick is crying it's little head off! It's imprinted on me --- no crying as long as I'm carrying the little peeper. I'd like it to have a brooder mate that it won't eventually be separated from. I searched CL & the closest peachicks I found are between Albany & NYC.

Yes I did I sold 25 chickens/chicks and came home with 6 rabbits and 1 duck and a nice rabbit cage,I had alot of fun but when I got home I pretty much crashed and burned I was soo tired. Got up at 3 in the morning because I had to drive about 2 and a half hours to get there.Got there at 10 after 6 in the morning and I was the first one there. My chickens where the first to be sold and you probably saw some of them sitting in the cages when you got there .

Theres a lady up in Williamstown that raises peachocks, are least she did 2 years ago. Her first name is sherry, I don't have her email anymore.
What about a turkey poult? They are somewhat related, or even a quinea kit.

Because of the way that Peafowl imprint and their long life expectancy, I'd rather have another pea. I look at turkeys as food & temporary residents.

I have silkies & a duckling in with Andie for now. The silkies attempt to cuddle seems to be a little calming. I have 4 peafowl eggs in the bator, but it's going to be amost 4 weeks before they hatch.

Hey There!

Sorry, Sorry Sorry! I have been chasing my tail since I got back from NC House Hunting! All the inspections are finally done, they forgot one the day they did everything else. I guess everything else is done. Surgery on Tuesday for my shoulder so I'll be out of commission for six weeks - and that's about when we move! Yikes! So I'm trying to get all the curtains down and washed and packed, same with the rugs that aren't really needed. Extra linens, the kitchen blah blah blah. Luckily my daughter and husband are being very helpful but I'm still in a slight PANIC!!!!!

The last of my darling chickens are being picked up by someone tomorrow - I am giving them the Hovabator and a couple extra things since they are for the Berkshire location that works with Juveniles that have gotten in trouble. I am throwing in the last of my four ducks....

I am so going to miss them! I had 22 left but two of my Silkies have just decided to die on me in the last two days - I think it was the change from the smaller coop to the big one - everyone is getting along.

I know it's probably not a perfect choice but I could swear I saw peachicks on one of the hatchery sites. That might get you a couple sooner unless you were looking for something better.

It looks now that we may be moving to GA not NC, stress,,,,,stress,,,,stress! My husband's Company has openings there so we might end up near Savannah which would be nice!

I'll certainly miss you all!

Hi Tgrlilly: I don't remeber his name, however he sold some peafowl to the Utica Zoo. Their phone number is 315-738-0472 (who knows, they may have some babies for sale). Hope you find some babies for your baby soon.

Happy Country Hens
