NY chicken lover!!!!

3 chicks greeted me in the incubator this morning! When they were all dry I moved them to the brooder with water and feed. They were pecking at the ground so I spread some feed on floor. How warm should I keep the brooder temperature? 3 more chicks pipping!!! So exciting!!

Hi all my fellow NYers.
I am not truly *new* to BYC, but my life is so busy, I've hardly been on. I live about half an hour from Albany and raise Welsummers, B/B/S Ameracaunas, Speckled Sussex and Silkie chickens, Red Bourbon Turkeys and Buff Orpington and Welsh Harlequin ducks. We will have Buff Orpington chickens next year, too!
I do a lot of hatching and selling- that's my main business.
I am posting because I'd really like to get to know other poultry people nearby, and also- I'm overrun with chicks. Like...a serious amount of 'em... :) There was a poultry sale a few weeks ago that went kinda flat- not nearly as many customers as expected and I have a lotttt of chicks leftover, plus the ones that I'd planned to hatch, normally!
Right now I have lots of Ameracaunas and Welsummers, a few Silkies and a few Bourbon poults. I've got a huge mixed batch of ducklings due in a week or so, too! These will be Muscovy, Khaki, Cayuga and mixes all between. (I got a huge batch of eggs from a friend who let all her ducks run together and ...well. You all know what happened, haha)
I've met some of you via CL, and some via HudsonValleyChickens- I'm Barbara! Glad to be here and looking forward to networking with you all!

we haven't formally met, but met online. I'm swamped with work for the next week or so, but after that, I'll see what you have, and what I may be able to use. We are only maybe 20 minutes apart. I've been spreading the word for you!

Hi...nice to meet you!...I am located in Vernon....Sorry the sale was flat...can't say I have done very well either...I have blk orpingtons and some Cayugas...the ducks I thought were taken and then the folks changed their mind... Enjoy the day!

for the 1st week 90 to 95 degree's. Lower the temp 5 degree's each week until at room temp. This time of year that does't take long!

Thanks!!Will do!

How is the hatch!...my one Dorking....thanks Renee! has pipped...so now the wait!

We are looking to add a few more, but we are a little far (Finger Lakes). We have six American Game hens and three Red Stars right now. (Lost a Red Star to a fox / 'yote right after we got them.)
