I just recently made my mother get rid of her 5 plus yr old chickens and then I couldn't find any replacements....well in my search I ran across Nature Berry Farms and they had some EEs that they sell as Amerucanas ...I am hoping they will be a beautiful egg and my mom will forgive me for making her sell the old ones...I have a long 5 months to wait...mine hatched in May so next month?!

I have some Cornish hatching this weekend....

How many made it this far?

My hatch is only going so-so. Not sure why, as I use the settings on my brinsea the same way each time and my temps/humidity were spot on the whole time. I usually get near 100% on 'local' eggs but got a bunch of shrinkwrapping going on. Finally assisted a few 'zipped and stopped' out as I really need one chick to make my broody happy.

Looks like I'll have 5/8, three are in 'chick' ICU (still in the egg). Mutt chicks, I love em. One chick already has wattles showing! Now that's a roo-in-training.

Head honcho - I spent several years as an understudy, though, until I figured I may as well get paid well for all the abuse.

IS there such a thing as a freak-free day?

My only real freak was the guy trying to get me to hand him four Lipitor 40s for free with no Rx. Hmm - no?

Lord love you - I could never give a screaming kid a shot. A leery adult is bad enough, and that's just for a crummy little IM flu jab!

I worked in Lake George today. On the way up the Northway, I saw the exit for Gansevoort, and actually said out loud, to myself, "Hey, there's where featherz lives!" BYC owns my life.

Got home from LaFayette at 7 pm with a pair each of Black East Indies, Pintails, Wood ducks & Mandarin ducks. All hatched this spring. OMG! You cannot believe the aviary this man has. HUGE, ponds, streams, breeder pens, grow out pens heated greenhouse for winter shelter. Loads of fancy ducks, Peafowl, Pheasants, chickens. I was drooling! The set-up is amazing. Poor ducks are downgrading coming to live with me. 4 x 8 house with a 6 x 10 run and a baby pool.

The Cornish are hatching. Started with 5 eggs, one was a dud. 1 is hatched and the other 3 have pips/zipping. They are white-laced red I believe but the chick that hatched is solid white?

Getting up early to check the duckies. I locked them insode the coop, filled up the pool, put some swimming pool wall on the exterior of the fencing to give them a little shelter from anything trying to get in. I'll take some pics tomorrow.
