NY chicken lover!!!!

I hope you got your Christmas Chickies! I should have done that, specially since Santa left me the new ecoglow under the tree as my unwrapped Santa gift. It's HUGE! I had a box in mind for a brooder but now I think I have to find a different one.

Would have been neat to put brand new chickies this morning under it, but I am still hoping for my NYD chicks. My shipped eggs were so so - about 50% developed. I have to try and stick to local eggs.

Now I have to wait for DH to get up.. hours and hours away. Just ate a bunch of candy, a fine Christmas tradition.. Santa cheaped out a bit on the chocolate and brought me hersheys this year, but I'll live.

We had our yearly tradition of the Muppet Christmas Carol last night and I am SO happy to not have to travel today.

Merry Christmas to one and all! About to go out with warm water and warm oatmeat for all the cheeps for breakfast. I hope everyone has a wonderful time with their family and eats lots of yummy things. My chickens will eat well today as I will give them any leftovers from the plates. MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!

Nothing new for me under the tree for the chickies....but SO (ray) has been working feverishly to get power to my coop so I can put a heated water bowl....I am NOT a morning person so walking down with 2 gallons of water every morning has already gotten OLD (and there is still a LOT of winter left)....would rather fill it in the evening when I get home, but need the heated bowl
to keep it from freezing overnight. I am sooo excited. I suspect that my mom is buying the heated bowl for me for Christmas, so I will get it on New Year's day when we get together as a family to celebrate.

Why do I suspect that? Cuz she meantioned, in an off the cuff way, how much stuff they have at Tractor Supply that she didn't realize they carried. Way to keep a surpise mom. LOL

The chooks have brought me three eggs today so far, and have made them special by not streaking anything on them - must be my Christmas gift! Can't be the dry, frozen run or anything.

Santa brought me a Rubbermaid garden cart!

No more lugging feed, shavings bales, or tarpfuls of used shavings!

I got the Hutt book The Genetics of the fowl. Yay!!! It is what I wanted! And chickies got some sprouted sunflower seeds!!!

My girls are kinda 'eh' on laying today. I think it's cause I let them out too early so I could get to present opening.

Ah well!

I got a new egg layer for Christmas. A small pullet egg....light brown...probably from one of the red somthing-or-others I hatched in June. A WONDERFUL gift. Go girls, lay those eggs!!!!


FOUR EGGS TOTAL TODAY!!!! New all time high. Merry Christmas to me.
