NY chicken lover!!!!

i got npip tested last year- entire flock test. she said she can't test anything again until spring but maybe you can get a hold of your tester and get an appointment scheduled for the spring.

we are lucky its free here in NY other states have to pay for it.

I wanted to get some birds from a breeder in KY but they were not NPIP and I was already tested negative and they would not pay to get certified so i didn't buy the birds.

Hello is anyone here? Just seems like we haven't been as talkative lately.

Good luck with job and eggs! I think I'm going to buy a large bag of rock salt to try on the path to the barn. I have some eggs due to hatch on superbowl. The few I put in with my test run on my BLRW eggs.

I'm here too!

Slipping on the ice is getting pretty old on our path to the barn also. I usually go down to open the pop doors at 6:30 before I go to work so it is dark and icy. 55 days till SPRING!!!!!

Our pheasants love to sleep out in the runs at night. As predator proof as I can reasonably make it. I have 2 Christmas trees that they go into- 2 pheasants in a Christmas tree. (singing -

Going to set our first eggs on February 8th, hoping to acquire some Ameracauna or Araucana eggs, if not setting some of each of our breeds. We want them to hatch on DD's 9th birthday, March 1st. Good way to test fertility on our own birds.

I didn't want to use salt on the ice because my chickens are still using that path (hilarious to see them slip around when they insist on going on ice.. so I am going to try the cleats. maybe they will work. :p

Eggs from all pens are growing except the BLRW. DH gave the roo (Omega) a couple doses of tylan 50 to perk him up, he has seemed depressed since he lost his main squeeze a couple months ago. He now has some competition thanks to a friend. So I'm hoping to crack some eggs this weekend to look for the bullseye. I'm hoping for some signs of improvement in fertility..

My Birds are the same way. They see the White Stuff and there is 7 heads trying to look outside, but not actually go outside. Funny Critters.

I got my incubator on Friday, waiting until Sometime in the next few weeks to do a test hatch.

I have a digital Therm on the Incubator (1588) and a remote probe. They are about 2 degrees different (Humidity on both is about right. Which should I use? Should I adjust the temps on the Bator up or just leave it?

Have a good day all.

Chris
