NY chicken lover!!!!

SOUNDS LIKE YOU HAVE A NICE SETUP, I CURRENTLY HAVE MY BIRDS IN THE ADIRONDACKS, BUT I WILL BE BUILDING A HOUSE IN POESTENKILL, THATS NOT TOO FAR FROM YOU I GUESS. BY THE WAY CHECKOUT BRAHMAS AS A BREED, VERY WELL SUITED FOR THE COLD, INCREDIBLE DISPOSITIONS, JUST A GREAT BIRD TO WORK WITH. DAN POWELL HAS DEVELOPED A BUFF LACED BRAHMA, AND BIG MEDECINE HAS DEVELOPED A SILVER LACED VERSION OF THE BRAHMA. BOTH THOSE NEW BRAHMA PATTERNS HAVE BEEN COMMANDING VERY HIGH HATCHING EGG PRICES. LAST YEAR ONE BATCH WENT FOR OVER $1,000.00......BY THE WAY IM TOM

Hey Tom! I just came from Shen, DD had a choir practice at East High School! Wow, that campus is HUGE! We have 2 schools. K-5 and 6-12. That's it. Tiny.

to you and County boy!

I met someone to pick up 8 chicks (don't know what they are yet maybe speckled sussex???) that they hatched because they wanted their child to see it. They had no intention of keeping chicks so when she posted on my moms group I stepped up. I can't turn down chicks, they are so cute!! Any guesses?

I still think I am going to turn on the bator and get some eggs to hatch soon!

The ones with the green legs could be EE's. The other could be Sussex. They are all darling though! We use paper towels alot in the spring!

The kids love to play with them and unfortunately we have carpets so I have to protect them a little.

We don't have carpet but the kids like to play games, watch tv and I think they would even eat with a chick on their lap, or shoulder or in their pocket. We call the paper towels "poopy protectors" It's all fun!

Wow.

My BF and I were standing by the sliding glass door for the back yard and all of a sudden my mini schnauzer went NUTS. I look outside and the largest raccoon I have ever seen is standing by where my chickens are. We have them in a chicken tractor because our coop isn't finished yet. WELL - we're going to have to finish it tomorrow.

He grabbed his bow really quick and we see him right there plain as day. We open up the door, and he was GONE. We have no idea how he got away so quickly.

The snow is melting here, so it made it difficult to follow the tracks.

I am so amped up right now! We're going to be checking outside every minute. Of all the raccoons we've trapped - he was EASILY the largest we have ever seen.

Tomorrow - going to go buy a big trap and an air gun.
