NY chicken lover!!!!

Hope the staff of BYC is noticing the "Amen's" to my request to allow us to continue as we have been (at least for the year + that I have been a member)

Please, we need the locals to be allowed to post what they have....gas is sooo dear and shipping is so iffy....

We need more "Amens" (It's Sunday, that's why I chose that word, sorry if I offended any Agnostics or Athiests or Goddess worshippers, but "Amen" seemed appropriate today.

PS I think the staff at BYC does a wonderful job. Sincerely. But , well, see above....we are happy with our little "i have XYZ " posts on our local thread

Ok Cass I've talked it out with the DH. We're going to have a get together this year instead of next. We live 10 minutes from Marquisella, so you just might get your chance to buy some of her birds.

I'm not planning a chickenstock, just a simple gathering of chicken friends at my home. I have plenty of space.
Sunday August 26 at noon to whenever. My veterans calendat says that day is women equality day (just thought that it was neat unrelated trivia).

Dear Staff:

We, the population of this thread, are constantly asking marquisella what she has "in stock" or "to sell" or "to trade". Those of us who frequent this thread appriciate that she takes the time to inform us of what is going on with her flock and are NOT offended by her posts. IF her post was flagged, please investigate how long the flagger has been on BYC before asking her to stop posting her items on this thread, because we ASK HER TO. Perhaps it was a newbie that just doesn't understand how this thread operates.

Personally I have only gone to the BST thread twice...both times were very very frustrating because everything I wanted to obtain was way to far away to actually aquire. SOooo I (and many others) count on our local chicken folk to let us know, on the NY thread, what they have available. My entire flock has been found on this thread....Happyhensny, featherz and stonykill being the ones who have let "us" know what they have and I have contacted them to get my birds.

Yes, we could PM people who speak of having birds we would like to own and ask them if they have anything currently available....but how time consuming for both parties would THAT be, really? A quick post here to the "locals" and everyone knows what is where and who has what.

Sooooo....hmm...what else can I say?

Dear Marquisella,

Unless they are threatening to throw you off the entire forum PLEASE continue to post what you have available for sale/trade on our little local thread...I and many others count on that information being right here on the thread we frequent. Please don't stop letting us know...and someday, I promise, I will finally have the money to obtain one or two of your wonderful birds and we will get to meet face to face.

Thanks,

Cass

Can I get an "AMEN" to postings that contain "I have XYZ currently available" on this thread?

Amen! This thread is about helping each other and learning from each other. Trying to get our extra birds to a good home is part of that.

and a 2nd Amen.

Oh Cass, that would be great! I am trying to figure out how many, how big beds I will need and what to plant where. I was thinking 4 - 4 x 8 beds. I am going to call Stemples saw mill in Berne to see what they charge for hemlock boards, I've heard hemlock does not need to be treated and lasts a decent time. Do you "plan" where you plant everything. I've always been a puut it where it fits kind of planter. I am hoping to get organized this year.

Happyhensny,

I know you, sweet woman....seriously consider 3 foot wide beds...your back will thank you. Sure, it's only 2 feet to the middle, but it's a LONG 2 feet when you are trying to pull things, pick things and NOT fall into the garden space. AND 3 foot wide beds will allow the children to be more help, cuz they will be able to reach also. My tomato beds were 4 foot wide and I didn't pick/reach the middle tomatoes without putting my foot in the bed...and the whole idea of raised beds it to NOT walk in them, compressing the soil, giving you higher yeilds.

Let me know when you want to come over, I'll PM you my address....OR you could call. LOL (It's about 12 miles from your house)

My new mottled cochin bantam i bought at the auction last night. He is 8 months old.

Amen! I met Sue through this forum and yes, her birds are amazing. She and everyone should be able to post available birds for us "locals" to see.

here is the way I see it. If I say I have eggs hatching on such and such a date, or anyone else does, how is it any different than saying TSC in bla bla bla town has Pekins and RIR's in stock?
