NY chicken lover!!!!

The Nassau sale is about five minutes from me. I LOVE this town! This is why I can get away with chickens and ducks - we're allowed to engage in any agricultural activities we want as long as we practice good husbandry.

If your town's Farm and Ag Committee sponsors a small farm animal sale - in fact, if your town HAS a Farm and Ag Committee - you might be a redneck.

I wonder if anybody will have turkey poults for sale. I still want a couple of turkeys, but I don't want to order fifteen of them, as that's about ten more than I need.

I wanted ducks but tried to control my self. No help this one. Beware or you'll have turkeys.

But - but I want turkeys!

I love my new quackers. They're hilarious to watch, and they're growing like weeds. They've easily doubled in size in a week, the fat little beasts. I need to get them into something bigger, as they're rapidly outgrowing my ghetto Sterlite tote brooder.

I want turkey too, but don't have the space for them. Maybe next year.

Washing machines? How do you turn those into pluckers?

google search wiz bang plucker washing machine. My understanding is, the original tub pluckers were all made from old washing machines.

I'm a builder, not a buyer

have to look this up!!!!

at 6am there were 4 chicks out. At 7 there are 5. many pips.

1 Ee/Sumatra cross, 2 RIR/Sumatra crosses, 1 pure Sumatra, and 1 White leghorn/sumatra cross.

The white leghorn cross is quite pretty. All white. So far the RIR crosses look like huge Sumatra's. The EE cross is white/silvery. The EE the egg came from is mostly white.

A lot of the pure Sumatra eggs are starting to pip.

I'm pretty sure the 1st egg that pipped, a RIR egg, didn't make it. Still 1/2 zippered like it was at 10pm last night.
