That happens to me too. I can't keep up. and I only get one email until I log in again.

If I change over to a nipple waterer (they sound interesting) will my older chickens catch on??

I betchya they will. Just tap on them until they get interested.. It is SO nice to not have to dump out nasty water. And all you need are the nipples and a bunch of buckets with lids. I have the 5 gallon ones from Home Depot, plus smaller 2 gallon ones for smaller spaces and a tiny little quart one for chicks. I've also put them in the bottom of milk jugs, which work nicely because of the handle to hang the jug from.

I tap on them every time I fill them just to be SURE they aren't clogged up, but so far so good. I like the push in model - just get an 11/32 drill bit and go to town.

Yep..some catch on quicker than others. There are a couple ways to show them..for the me the easiest is to just get a hold of them and tap their beaks to the nipple. I've also just tapped it with my finger..but the slower ones..I grab them. Remember to take out their other waterer as they will take the easy way out.

When they're out free ranging I just use buckets or the bell type waterers...its just easier than trying to find places to hang nipple waterers. Plus its just easier on me to dump, scrub and refill before I go to work in the morning..I trip over my own two feet enough..to heck with trying to find where to hang something...lol!

Love my nipple waterers..everyone here uses them. Just add more nipples to the bottom of the container...I've got something like 30 chicks and a duckling and I've got 3 waterers with only 3 nipples..they're fine. Thriving actually! LOL All of my coops have nipple waterers too..no messy bedding!

adding more nipples is on my to do list on Sunday!!! Thanks!

We have a 5 gallon bucket with nipples and works FINE.
We also have the "regular" water ...just in case.

OH,no any of those turkens!!! I did look to see if anyone has turken eggs for sale...but I don't like shipped eggs...Did you talk to the turkens about marking their eggs?
