NY chicken lover!!!!

Speaking of ducks, I'm loving those runner ducks.

It must be the NYS BYCer year of the ducks!

It was an eighteen egg day, which is a record for me - the girls must like the warmth! Trucker Chick showed her approval with another big egg. It's not as ridiculously huge as the one she laid shortly after I got her, but it still bottomed out the egg scale.

Our Muzak system was playing a fairly obnoxious country song today. I said, "Oh, they're playing goat-roping music - yuck." It caught on pretty much instantly.

I think so! the year of the ducks! I'm pretty sure I'll be getting some Saxonys....although I like those Cayugas (anyone have hatching eggs for sale?)! Maybe I should get both? Is duck math anything like chicken math????? If so, I'm in for a heap of trouble!!! DH asked tonite if I'll end up with multiple breeds of ducks (like I do chickens). I looked at him with a puzzled look....."what ever do you mean?"

Just rec'd a call from local hardware store our plucker has arrived

... Well I guess I know what I am doing tomorrow.

I have too many roos. The silver laced cochin is climbing into the nest boxes to mess with the broody silkies. So he might be first!

I have to figure out what I am going to use as a scalder first, and get some heavy duty gloves!

I have charcoal, starter fluid and a big grill. Let me know what time to fire it up!

I'll probably go to the schuylerville auction tomorrow to drop off my extra v-day chicks. They are getting rather cramped!

Today is more coop cleaning, as soon as the girls stop laying in there. :p

Appears to be "The Year of the Duck". We had Call Show Ducks for many years.
Two years ago we came home to find our Barn empty.

We got Silkie Chickens. The Ducks are MORE care. We are so much happier with
our Chickens.

Do you know where I can get one of those burners? and do you use special gloves so you don't get burnt? I looked at TSC and CountryMax today and couldn't find any that went past my wrists.
