NY chicken lover!!!!

Sorry for your loss Featherz. Hopefully the other hens will not have similar problems.

My chicks are growing so fast. Their wings are fully feathered and they are what? 3 weeks old? Maybe.

Another of my birds has developed the "hic" sound that my Roo has had since childhood. I guess it's contagious. If the affected hen stops laying I'll worry, until then they both seem to be fine.

A hiccuping chicken sounds like it would be kinda cute.. Maybe they are just gulping down the goodies too quickly?

Sad about my poor chicken, but at least it was quick and I hate to say it but I am glad I didn't have to put her down. I hate that part. She's only been sick with the bloaty belly about a week, as far as I could tell. Java girl has her last egg, maybe she'll get a cute barred nn out of it.

On the good side my little Araucana hens are now squatting so maybe I'll get some blue eggs soon! They are so tiny so they will probably be laying little eggs for a while!! They won't be fertile tho, the little white roo in with them hasn't figured out he's a boy yet.

Sorry to hear about your girl, Featherz.

My bees are here and have been successfully installed in their hives. Alan says they're pretty laid back bees - they didn't pop him once. The weather is supposed to be great for several days, so it's perfect for them. Go, bees!

I'm thinking of starting a suggestion thread for naming my chickens. I have 5 and I have been googling names for famous groups of 5 but nothing is really catching my attention. And again I'm not even 100% sure what have yet as far as roos or hens. I can take some pictures of the gang tomorrow and post them to see if anyone can guess what I have. But other than that, if the silkies are still up in the air for sexing, I may need some unisex names. Anyone have any suggestions?

I want to get bees, thought I had some lined up from CL, but it fell through.

My Amercaunas and Aracaunas from Oct 31,and I think my RIRs from Christmas Day hatch, are laying!!

oh featherz I am sooo sorry to hear your hen passed away!!
