Hi neighbor!

Rancher- Yes I did mean brooder its a huge wooden crate that had 6 chicks in total had 2 polish her being one in there. More than enough room for the six all same age about 11 weeks. I had never seen them pick on her, but then again not always there. At what age or how should I introduce them with the older girls. They are about 5 months?? Suggestion would be great thanks!

I am looking for a good home for 1 male mallard and 2 young (sex unknown) rogue ducks. The three are quite bonded and should stay together.
Otherwise, they have to go to auction, and I hate to think of what will become of them.
Canandaigua area. I'd be willing to drive somewhat (maybe part way?) if it means a good home.

At 11 wks they should be in a coop not a brooder. Perhaps it's time to move them.

I'm afraid I don't have ducks. I have enough just handling chickens, though I've read some breeds of ducks can lay as many eggs as chickens.
Though I expect they have different needs and I'm just getting the hang of chickens.

Morning all! Well yesterday was a bittersweet and sad day! I rehomed my 2 ducks to a almost like petting zoo where they will be with many other ducks and geese they seemed happy when I left but it was hard for my 3 year old daughter. Also yesterday one of my 10 week old polish girls was found dead in the broader home that I have for them pecked clear of feathers off her back. Was fine in the am when feed but pm not so much. Any thoughts? Also do I have to be worried about the others that where in with her that picked at her going canniable? All help would be great thanks guys!
I had one chicken dead in run from being plucked and it never happened again. I didn't change a thing, soooo I am thinking that that chicken was ill or weak and succumbed to the pecking and picking. If that was/is the case I am glad I didn't feed it longer than I did, cuz it's offspring might have been equally weak and the feeding for no return would have continued.

I use a boning knife for butchering my extra roos. I wonder if I am going to be greeted in heaven by a flock of angry roos holding a boning knife in their beaks?

Is this a thread of all New Yorkers? I'm in Canandaigua... anyone near me?
Yup, we are all from NY....well, except the one from PA we let hang around....they are closer to NY than to the PA people, so we tolerate them. LOL

I am SURE there are people close to you.....they'll chime in when it cools off enough to fire up the computer.

That's great! If I found someone to take my ducks I'd be thrilled. I'll be hanging around if you don't mind another!
