Hello all!

I haven't been on this thread much before, but I'm about an hour north of Utica. I know this is a long shot, but I was wondering if anyone had standard Cochins? I am looking for a standard Cochin rooster, I have been looking for months and all I can find where I live are bantams. If anyone has a Roo they would be willing to sell, or knows someone that does, I would not mind traveling to get him

thank you all for any help or info you can provide!
What color and age are you looking for?

OK, I have a question and I thought I would ask on here as its NY! What can I do to water proof the concrete in the barn? I have had an outbreak of coccis in my chickens from time to time and I found out that its because the shavings are wet most of the time. this was before I had the ducks but just figured it out now!!

I have clay soil and the concrete is taking up the water EVERY TIME it rains! any thoughts on how to make it water proof?? I know paint will not work as the water is coming from the bottom and it will just flake off.

Kinda like a funnybone, but shaped like a duck, you know, peanut butter on the inside, chocolate cake and dipped in chocolate.

I guess I don't eat enough junk food. I don't even know what a funnyybone is,....... well except for my 2.....

I have not seen a funny bone since the 80's. But then I don't eat that stuff anymore. Went grocery shopping yesterday and it seems that oreo has new cookie out. It was vanilla with 2 layers(not the kind we have!) of frosting with another wafer in between. It stands at 100 calories...for a cookie and I would never be able to eat just one. I will have to be happy with my organic granny smith apples.

That's a toughie. I like my garage floor epoxy, which lasted almost three years in my wet garage before the water from below started wrecking it. HOWEVER, since it's ducks and chickens and such, the water from above will also seep into that, making nice paint chips for the chickens and ducks to eat. gutters on the barn? =)

I would dig a trench around the perimeter and fill it in with gravel if you can. For my coop I dug a trench (keep in mind when I say I, I mean had someone else do it) around the base and laid some drainage tile in it.

When I clean I spread a good amount of DE on the floor first to dry things out and then toss some more on the wood shavings. I also prefer "Nobles" wood shavings to the "Premium" type. Nobles is bigger chips. Also you can toss in some scratch on occasion so the chickens work the stuff and keep it aerated. You should also take a rake or another garden tool and toss things up so they don't get packed down. You could also do a cursory cleaning, taking out maybe half the chips and dump in some new. Taking out the wettest clumps.

Gutters on the coop will help too.

I have large hygrometers in two of the coops to monitor humidity. Lots of folks worry about keeping birds warm when it's the humidity that kills.

Actually, I'm not too particular on color, Buff would be nice but I would be happy with any color :) With age, I do need an adult, or at least a fully grown cockerel.
I see you had a question I may be able to help you with, as far as waterproofing your concrete they make a clear sealer that they use for stamped concrete that you can spray on with a garden sprayer, it's usually good for about 2 years, and you can get it in gloss or satin finish, not that your chickens will care! Thanks for the response by the way!
