NY Gay Pride Weekend

I also wanted to mention that us city kids are used to seeing quite a lot of NC17 walking down the street.

There's either a sort of automatic hand that blocks the child's view, busies the child with a strategically positioned piece of candy or beverage, or we just ignore it and so does the kid. Yes, it's true that we find out if the child ignored the little scenario LATER, when he starts asking embarassing questions ('ASK YOUR FATHER!!!!').

OR...the child becomes precocious, walks over to the clutchers, and says loudly, while slapping them, 'You're not married so stop it'.

(true story - age 2 1/2!!!!!).

It might be more of a shock for someone who's spent most of their time in the country or suburbs.

"Something caught my eye.....and dragged it 15 feet...."

Seriously, you didn't need anyone to take you there. Just start talking to someone and next thing you know you are part of their posse and they are giving you make-up tips and what not to wear info. My friend Philip can pick out my shoes better than I can.

Phillip the frog? (inside joke folks don't jump on me)

You are more likely to see "inappropriate" stuff going on at Marde Gras or St. Patrick's Day parades than at the Gay Pride parades. Folks know that the world is watching them and 99% will be on their best behavior while having a blast.

My Neice and her friends are going to be in the parade in Chicago. I'm getting a tank top out of it, lol

so true. A lot of minority groups behave the best they can when they are trying to prove they are no worse than every other majority group out there.

Once when I took the kiddos to the zoo, with a whole group of playgroup kids, the giraffes participated in an Nc-17 moment. It is really hard to distract a kid from something that big and obvious........

But, hey any of us who have explained just what that rooster is up to can manage most things you see in public....

Have fun everyone at the parade! I would take my kids with no qualms, but have and will never again take them to a Mummers parade in Philly. (Truthfully that really depends on where you go if you are near the judging area it is cool, if you're near the end of the route or deep south Philly all bets are off!)

Sounds like fun! I don't think we have big gay pride events in my town - we do have an annual chocolate day though. And a dutch oven cooking day. So when you're done bein' proud, come on down here and eat
