NY - NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE IT it was 4ft tall-!!

A Golden Eagle perhaps? We have one that frequents our property along with a couple of Red Tail Hawks, 2 Great Horned Owls and more infrequently a Bald Eagle.

The Golden Eagle is by far the biggest bird I have ever seen. They can be up to 3’ in length and have a wingspan of up to 7’. And when he is here the hawks and owls clear out. Guess they figure he doesn’t want to share so they steer clear.

I was at my kitchen window and noticed my little GLW had her neck crooked and she was sanding so still so I walked out saw her neck the same said her name but tha. I looked at her eyes and she was staring right at him. He wa sitting it the tree about 30 fr. Away from the coop and run and literally right outside my door I got pretty close than I made an owl sound barn owl I think I read somewhere hawks or this thing looks like an eagle to me are afraid of owls that’s when he flew away but I think I got close enough where I shook the tree he was on lol haven’t seen him since but had some incedants with a young red tailed hawk I think.
Let’s hope he stays away! What a close call!!

I'm thinking that could be a light morph Eastern Red-tailed Hawk, since it appears almost completely white underneath (besides dark abdomen markings) , and especially taking apparent size into consideration. It seems the dark shadow around the middle might be signature belly band. :) Their wingspans range in size from 3.4 - 4.8 feet, making them one of North America's largest hawks. So much variation, too. Hard to know for sure, though. *not my picture*

Definitely not an eagle....they don't look like this at any stage of life.

Hide your chickens inside their coop or run! Guessing you’re not allowed to defend them otherwise where you’re at. Not a juvenile bald or golden eagle though... I’ve never seen a goshawk in person but it certainly fits the descriptions.
