NYDH contest5

My girls caught a caterpiller one fall, and it make a cocoon. It sat in the garage all winter, and I figured it was dead, but never got around to throwing it out. One day I just happened to look up at the shelf it was on (totally forgot it was there) and saw this moth that had just emerged. These were taken after we let it go on a tree in our backyard.

So cool!

None have started laying yet, so I'm not sure. I have 1 Silkie that lays, but she's hatchery stock, so I don't know if there's a difference. My orp's faces have turned red, and so has the silkie's (as red as a black face can) so they're all ready. The egg is light pink, I guess you'd call it.

it's been so long since I've seen an Orp egg around here....but I think they were pinkish. Silkie's were off white. But I would set that sucker anyway, just in case it's bloom or something.
