My newly purchased Snowy Call Duck hen, Oakley, is setting on 5 eggs. This coming Sunday I will have to take Oakley and her mate Owen on an hour drive to Omaha. Should I leave the eggs at home because she hasn't been consitently sitting on them anyway, or should I take them with her so she can sit on them there? I doubt they will hatch because she hasnt been very consistent with her sitting. What should I do. Any if I do move her how should I do it so she WILL sit on them down there???

Ooh, tricky situation. I can tell you what I think from what I have read here, and seen with my runners and buffs.

Seems to me it is really up to Oakley. Really. Some ducks will take a certain amount of disturbance, especially early on in their broody. But for some, they only get semi-broody anyway. I set Romy up with her own suite, because she was seriously broody. For about 40 hours.

Last year, Fünf was broody for almost seven weeks.
