Oatmeal Treats

Hi guys, I found this recipe to make oatmeal treats for your chickens http://fresh-eggs-daily.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html

I'm just wondering if all the ingrediants are safe?

Ingredients:
1/2 Cup suet, olive oil or coconut oil
1/4 Cup honey
2 Eggs
1/2 Cup whole wheat flour
1/2 Cup wheat germ
1/2 Cup cornmeal
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
3 Cups old-fashioned oats
1 Cup raisins
1/2 Cup chopped walnuts (copy and pasted)

Oh ETA: I don't have walnuts so are pecans ok to use?

Why would you give that to your chickens?

If you want crop bound or overweight chickens which stop laying, that recipe might do it.

They are always eating feed, or free ranging. I thought they might like a treat.

Fresh calves liver diced into cricket sized chunks is one of the best chicken treats ever. Try it if you want your hens to love you or to come running when they see you.

I don't know about the other ingredients, but suggest staying away from raisins. As I understand it, they are very bad if not poisonous to chickens, and some other animals.

I doubt that raisins are poisonous to chickens but a tablespoonful of raisins has almost as many calories from sucrose as an equal volume of refined white sugar.

Thanks guys. I read that raisins were on the safe food chart for chickens so I think they are fine.
