Mine too, go crazy for warm porridge and yoghurt!

egggarden, I consider the warm temp safe, when I can stir the porridge and yoghurt comfortably with my finger. If I can't keep my finger in the mixture, then it's too hot. This way I can be sure there are no hot pockets hiding within the porridge.

I also give my chickens warm oatmeal on a cold morning, but my latest discovery to add is Rice and other flavors of baby cereal...my daughter gets WIC and my grandson has outgrown it, i decided to try and and chickens love it , full of calcuim and vitamins .....nothing goes to waste around here

What is oatmeal oats so why not buy sack of whole oats and cook them might not look to pretty but they get every thing oats can provide .Whole corn can be cooked and fed also the cooking makes it more digestable . I fed show cattle many years cooked feed the animals really liked it .Do not over do it because it can make them gain weight

Put a little extra virgin olive oil in the oatmeal and watch their combs turn bright red. They love it.

I give it to them for the nutritional value. Can't say it's a scientific fact if it turns the combs a brighter red, but it certainly aids in health.

Oh yeah! Oatmeal with anything in it they love!

Peas, fresh cooked cranberries, mashed banana, parsley, cayenne pepper, raisins!

Happy hens make lots of nice eggs. I actually was gone a couple of days & they didn't get their afternoon warm snack, the next 2 days I didn't have as many eggs.....so yes they reward you for feeding them so well!
