Oatmeal WOW!!

Ok U guys. Who knew a few 4-H chicks would turn me into a nut that actually cooks breakfast for chickens? I dont even cook breakfast for my three kids....can u say CEREAL?

I have offically crossed over to obsessed. I am taking a bowl of oatmeal out to the coop as soon as I post this. My friends will think I have gone off the deep end.

btw, when i get a deformed or broken egg, I beat it with a little milk and serve it to my cats (I LOVE my cats, for them I would not hesitate to cook breakfast). It makes their coats shiny!

Jeepers, I am hysterically laughing, cuz im the same way, I even have my local Dolly Madison thrift bread store on call for my chickens, kids are grown but my grandson loves to help me with the chickens .......couple of months ago at work i blurted out i have chickens

my co workers looked at me like i was nuts !!! but they bring me so much joy, i could sit and watch them all day....ok so im hooked my name is Karin Strickland and im a chickenholic hahahaa

Give and you shall receive!!! I have been giving my 5 ladies warm oatmeal mixed with yogurt almost every morning and they in turn are still giving me 5 eggs a day. I think they enjoy something warm in their bellies on these cold days.

Kind of a little OT but I was reading about Laura Ingalls Wilder during our school session and she was known as a fantastic chicken keeper. She even wrote for several farming magazines as an expert. Somewhere I read that she only fed her flock warm mush every day and had a constant supply of eggs.

I will give it a try as soon as I get some oatmeal. The kids ate what we had left this morning. Lord knows I would do just about anything to get my pullets to finally lay! 7 months and still no eggs!
