But because it's Obama. The only things we know about this address so far is that it's Obama talking about education. If the 'education' part isn't objectionable, then the 'Obama' part is. Someone would be lying to say that bigotry, racism, and hatred is not playing a part in the reaction to this.

I just have a clarification on a quote, for those who liken Obama to Hitler.

The quote is Jesuit and generally attributed to St. Francis Xavier, not to Hitler and is:

Give me a child for seven years and I will mold the man.

That is complete control of a child for 7 years.

I feel that I cannot be bad for childen to recognize the president, and know that he cares about education. For any kid under about 14 that will be the only message they can get from a short speech on education. More kids know who Sponge Bob is than Barack Obama, George Bush, or even George Washington.

Also for clarification: Obama was born in Hawaii, and raised for a short time in Indonesia. I've heard the call to prayer in this country and in Germany, it is not unique to Moslem nations.

If anyone has read of Obama's background, he was not a wealthy kid. His mom and grandmother raised him alone, and his mother would NOT tolerate disrespect and got him up at ungodly hours to go over his homework with him before he went to school and she had to go to work. He has much respect for women, which I think is sort of nice. He wasn't raised in richness like Bush, kennedy, and some of our other presidents. I am not defending him, but we have to remember he has children just like we do. He is genuinely concerned about the educational system in this country, and if he wants to help kids with self esteem and how they can help themselves instead of asking the gov. to do it for them, then what harm can it do. I talk all the time to my son about the way the world is going and how we have to learn to take care of ourselves, and be self-sufficient. Maybe Mr. Obama can just reinforce it without stepping on anyone's toes. Any one that wants to talk nice to a kid and give them hope and good direction can't be doing much harm IMHO.
