link of info on death penalty, note it may not be a deterrence, but in some cases, like this guy was correct thing to do. Texas is the top for getting it done. Trouble some of the innocence found on death roll, and Fla on the top of that list.....I really see both side of this, but have no problem with death for people like this....guy. Oh yes race its the whites that top the number on death roll.

As lawless as our early west was and the crimes committed in that era in comparison to the law available today and the crime rates public hangings had a profound effect.

I am not sure if you are serious but I have no problem with public executions. I also think they should have let people see Osamas' body. We are as a society too far removed from the punishment part of our justice system. Punishment used to be for the offender to make him think twice the next time. If it were my son or daughter that the guy killed I would attend for personal reasons.

Innocent people have likely been executed. Plus, it's premeditated murder by the state. I just can't believe in my mind that capital punishment is anything other than wrong. People may do horrid things, but killing them doesn't bring victims back.
 
There is always the possibility of that happening just as a killer going free on a technicality. CP is for the benefit of society. Try walking down the streets at night in the bad parts of any town, if you had a gun in your hand you would use it just as fast as the next guy to defend yourself or your family. I cannot imagine a society that the criminals did not have some fear of death, there would be more murders I am sure without the DP. you are right it was never meant to bring back anybody or a means for vengeance.

And that possibility is unacceptable to me. You can be released from prison if you found innocence, you can't be brought back to life once the state kills you. To each their own.
