Obsessed with Snakes in the Coop -- want pics!

What kinds of snakes were those, nwfl? Not sure what's worse: two snakes in your coop or two snakes "doing it" in your coop. Ugh!! *shudders*

Caught him when he ate a ceramic egg by mistake.

Did the ceramic egg pass or was that the end of the snake? Almost makes me feel sorry for the snake. Almost. No, not really.​

Hey Kootney Gal! (I'm originally from Vancouver.) I agree, that's a pretty good shot with the giant knife.

My grandmother had a sure fire cure for egg eating snakes. Blow out an egg and fill it with salt. Place back in the nest. Any snake that eats that "loaded" egg will die----problem solved.

We have all kinds of snakes here in Florida. I live in town, in a large subdivision just off a main road and I have seen all sorts of snakes in my yard; black racers, coral snakes, worm snakes, pine, etc. For several years, we had a black racer that sunned on our sidewalk just outside the front door. I nearly broke my neck several times when I didn't look down and would almost step on her.

We would see each other at the same time and she would slither the same way I was trying to go to avoid her. Yes, I know it was a "her" because of the split picky plates and the fact that she showed me her clutch of eggs 3 years in a row. Probably a descendant of hers used to come through our back yard along the fence line - where our chicken run and coop are now located - every afternoon about the same time. When the chicks were babies they would fuss a little, cluster around and look and as they got older they became more curious and after the second time all five of the girls ganged up on the poor snake - it was bleeding in multiple places - it has changed its path. It still comes through the yard at the same time - but along the house and deck where the girls can't get it. I would never kill it as there are a few empty houses in our neighborhood and we have seen and trapped a number of rats and black racers eat said rats. DH is terrified of

snakes so calls me to identify and "take care of" the offender.

Oh, my, that's hysterical!! So much for the Guinea threat!
