This is sooooo hard! I have 1 (one!) laying hen; 2 molting hens who deserve a break; 3 pullets who *may* lay this fall, or wait until spring; and a roo, who I think is not getting the job done because he's molting like the hens.
My neighbor has 35 (!!!) chickens of various ages, and about 15 or so of them laying. (They eat a dozen+ eggs a day, so they don't really have extra.)
I haven't had the joy or stress of a broody, and I don't own an incubator. Then there are the Hatch-a-Longs here on BYC.
So PLEASE keep posting pictures of cute little chicks, and I will live vicariously through the winter adoring chicks from this side of my screen.
