I'm the Project Director for the Lands & Natural Resources Department of the regional native corporation (yeah, it's a mouthfull!) My job duties include travel to remote, but gorgeous locations on the west side of Kodiak Island to maintain cabins we rent to fisherman, developing a bear viewing program, repairing damaged trails, making sure our reforestation committments are met, managing commercial fishing and hunting guides utilizing our land and so much more.
I'm also a wife, mother of an 8 year old DD, host mother of a 16 year old Danish exchange student, chief wrangler to 3 dogs, 2 cats, 2 rabbits, 5 laying hens, 3 ducks, 7 chicks in the brooder and 16 eggs in the bator. In my "spare" time I'm president of a local non-profit trail organization - we repair trails, educate the community on responsible trail use, etc. I'm also co-advisor to our local HS FFA chapter, a member of the local brown bear advisory committee to Fish and Game and am running for the local Soil and Water Conservation District board.
My VERY patient and VERY understanding husband is a work from home custom knife maker and house husband after 22 years as a mail carrier. He's also a voluteer for the local Wildlife Refuge - travelling to similar remote locations as I do to work on their facilities. He and DD are also voluteers with the trail organization. We spend our summers in the field working on trails, camping, etc.
Here's a pic of one of the "terrible" places they make me go to work in the summer. It's a tough job, but someone has to do it:
Yep.......all of the above. Wife, mother, daughter, care-taker, electrician:
RN--can't tell you how many illnesses I've cured as well the cuts and scrapes I've healed.
Electrician--Hmmm, maybe it just needs batteries?? Or, perhaps plugging it IN will work?
Vet Tech/Dog Groomer/Animal Massage--I've administered meds, re-dressed wounds/bathed and 'styled' the dogs/Oh, the PETS and love I've given over the years.
Master Gardener--The tumbleweeds and Foxtails grow incredibly well here!!
Law Enforcement Officer/Courtroom Judge/Jury/Executioner--well, maybe not 'executioner', but ........
Private Legal Assistant--if the 24 y/o ds doesn't straighten up soon, I'm gonna be the executioner! LOL
Pilot/Air Traffic Controller--I had NO idea the kids had missed the trash can THAT many times with their napkins after dinner!!
Yep, I've done it all, but the job I do that gives me a little pay check sometimes is Support Staff Substitute at school. I cover mostly for my SIL at the District Office, but also work for the secretaries at different campuses within the district.
My training is in Health Information. Transcription, Birth Certificates, chart assembly, etc. Basically, I'm a Medical Records Clerk.
I'm also a full time volunteer with Girl Scouts. I wear about 5 or 6 hats in our neighborhood.
First and for most I am a wife and mother and that is the BEST occupation of them all. After that I am a Inventor/business owner and I have a patent pending product I sell online. I 'm not making much right now, but I hope when the right investor comes along that it will take off and I can help out my family who have been loosing their jobs left and right.
I'm a RN at the local community hospital, mainly orthopedics, but also any med-surg cases they can find to fill the beds. I LOVE my job! In the past I have worked in my fathers grocery store, pumped gas, milked cows, put up hay, helped gather sap, cared for horses, gone to college for Animal Science degree, worked for USDA as an egg inspector, raised 2 kids, and of course have had my poultry around off and on. My DH is a psychologist, so I have to take care of him after he takes care of his clients.
What do you call it when you take out your own heart and put it back in? Just kiddin Actually I was doing agriculture till we got this weather. I am now looking for a new job. I might become a vet or IT tech.
