Hello to all, I am in search of the Ocellated Turkey. This is such a beautiful turkey to me because I am into fleshy faced birds and this one takes the cake fore me. Very interesting in every way. I am located in San Antonio, TX and willing to travel or pay for shipping. If your are a breeder but don't have any yet please let me know in advance to reserve something with you for the next season or the like. Please PM me to discuss specifics. Thanks for Reading -- Yvette

There is a breeder of these in South Florida and another in Texas. When I last looked into them they were $1500 a bird and are not the easiest of birds to raise.

I also heard that they are hard to raise, but I would like to attempt raising some in the future, as well as the Australian Brush Turkey, both of which Sid at www.texaspeafowl.com has.

$3500/pair. My friend has them, and they are one of the most difficult birds to keep alive in captivity. They need large heated shelters for winter, and very large pens. They dont do well in confinement, and get bacterial infections very easy and will just drop dead. There are only 2 or 3 breeders in the US because of this. I've been wanting some also, but im going to buy a huge used greenhouse for them, and set up a sprinkler system to spray the ground with a mild clorine solution at least once a week to kill any germs or bacteria in the ground. I honestly would even wear different shoes especially for them when I go into the pen and probably dip them in clorox before entering. I know all of this sounds very extreme, but thats what it takes with these guys, and a few other species. If you want my friends contact info, just send me a pm.

Yvette, I'm north of San Antonio about 25 miles in Spring Branch off 281 North. Have you received any feedback on Ocellated Turkey? I've been looking for ages and they are not only hard to find but extremely expensive when you do locate some. There is a breeder in TX that has them but wants a fortune. What other birds do you have? Mine consist of some different color India Blue species peafowl, Green species peafowl, Red Golden pheasant and some White Bobwhite quail. Hi guys! I´m Daniela Cabana from Brazil. Somebody knows where I can buy them? If anyone knows any information, could email me please? [email protected]
I want to make a habitat to preserve and perpetuate their species. Thanks for all!
