Octagon 20 ECO w/autoturn cradle OR Genesis 1588 w/egg turner??

I have read a lot of impressive reviews on this bator lately. Just in time too since I have just decided to buy a new one and fix my cranky one later!

I am leaning towards the Octagon 20 Eco myself. Now if only Friday would get here so I can order it already sheesh. (before I change my mind AGAIN)

I ordered the Eco 20 last Wednesday, got it Monday and set a dozen duck eggs yesterday a.m. The temps haven't budged! I have read enough posts in this section to know that's worth a million dollars!

I dont think you can wrong with either. I can fit 42 eggs in my 1588 with auto turner and it hatches great. I love this thing and now have 2. I would almost suggest just buying a cabinet bator, it seems everyone starts with a table top to find they want a cabinet anyway

Good luck with whatever you choose and I hope you get great hatches. Its an addictive hobby

It seems that both hold their temps well.

The 1588 holds more eggs.
The ECO is easier to clean and probably more durable.

Since humidity is so important, which one is easier to adjust and maintain humidity?

This is a little food for thought about the 2 incubators. With the Brinsea being more durable beings it is plastic versus styrofoam. Let's say you hatch eggs non stop for 1 straight year. In 1 year your styrofoam bator may beed to be replaced due to so much use, your Brinsea on the other hand probably has a few more years left. So in 1 year you replace your styrofoam one. In time if you purchased 2 Brinsea's (so you could hatch the same amount as the 1588) you will save money in the long run.
Second thought on having 2, if you have a temp spike and lose the eggs, you only lose 24 and not 41 or 42 (whichever it is on the 1588). If you have both bators going at the same time and lose 1 batch your other batch could make it fine.
I always think of pros and cons, good, bad and ugly, most cost effective way of doing things.
With that said, I did buy an LG and have my first batch setting in there now. I was so frustrated with it the first couple of days I bought Brinsea that will be here tomorrow. My LG will now be my hatching one and for emergencies. With doing this I can pull eggs out at 18 days and quickly fill it back up with more eggs and not have to wait for them to hatch to refill. But my next bator will be homemade.
Anyways, like I said just food for thought.

Your 1588 styrobator will rot in some landfill in couple of years polluting the environment (500 years to decompose styrofoam)

while the ECO 20 Brinsea , (2 yars warranty, why styrobator manufacturers give you only 1 year if their bators are so great?)

will be hatching chicks for many years to come.

ECO 20 holds the temp and humidity rock solid, comes to set temp in 10 minutes, no heat sinks, no waiting a week until it stabilizes.

(Some LG supporters say, "It is a great bator if you stabilize it for one week, and put a heat sink in it to hold the temp)

Well, would you buy a car which requires 1 week to warm up to get ready for driving?

LOL
