i have been looking and the oct 20 advanced ex and came across the suro 20.. they are very comparable in components but the price dif is 200.00.. has anyone had a suro?

I have the Suro 20 and have also used the Rcom mini. Like you, said the price difference is huge! Put my first eggs into the Suro 20 last night. So far it's maintained temp and humidity extremely well. I'll let you know how things go as we get further into the hatch. There are a couple of others on here who also have them. Hopefully, you will get a few more responses! I'll be curious to see what experiences others have had. I really shopped around, and found the best price here:

Good luck with your decision and happy shopping!

I have the Suro and my first hatch is scheduled for July 29th. It is very easy to use, I like the design. The incubator sits in a cradle that moves back and forth. The digital temperature and humidity guage seems to be right on. The automatic pumping system works great. The only time I have had to take the lid off was for candling the eggs. The eggs appear to be developing on schedule and the air cell is good. My eggs were shipped to Alaska, and a couple of the air cells are detached, so I am hoping all goes well.

There were only two small concerns that I had.. the cradle was hung up on one side and did not turn well when I first got it. I adjusted the screw and it works great now. Someone just got the screw a little too tight. The other thing is the incubator has dividers that hold the eggs in. (like little fences) I did not have a full incubator, so my eggs would fall to one side. I fastened a twist tie to the two dividers and the eggs stayed in place. Those are real minor things. If my eggs hatch okay on the 29th I will be singing praises for this incubator. It is like using a bread machine.

Yes, the SURO seems to me to have more features for the price. It has the auto humidity control. If you want that with the Brinsea Octagon, you have to upgrade to the Advance EX. Both the Advance EX and the RCOM 20 are more expensive.

Tia, can I ask you, how wide is the SURO. At one web site is says it is 38W.

I can't believe it is really 38" wide, is it? It doesn't look that wide in the picture.

I got the Hovabator Genesis 1588... almost wish I would have spent a little more and got the Suro.

Well, you can always sell that one and upgrade. Everyone loves that incubator. I'll bet they are very easy to sell.
