October 2016 Hatch-A-Long!!

Am I remembering correctly that some of your silkies are white? If so, white is like a switch that covers up other colors so you can get lots of different colors from white silkies.

I just happen to have a handful of girls laying and they are lavender, paint, blue and Isabel I think(lavender and buff) and a variety of Roos so a number of colors are possible. When my younger birds start mating I will separate into paint and lavender and cuckoo pens but right now it is pretty mixed up! I don't know what to do with my blue girl... She doesn't seem to fit in anywhere. I am tempted to get a splash rooster for her but I have to stop myself from trying to get every color of Silkie!
No, my showgirl is white. My silkies are splash, I think. I thought you meant the shells were different colors. Lol. I love the variety of colors that silkies come in.

Here's my pretty girls and boy. :) I don't know what the silvery color is actually called. I think they are around 6 months.

Kids named her Silver Nugget because she was ultra tiny as a chick.

Left to right: Silver Nugget, Adore, Silver, and Jujubee the rooster

Jujubee and Adore

This hen is Silver. Yeah, the kids were creative with the silkie names. :p

I thought it was funny she was looking in the window.

Ahhh, they are adorable. I love their little house too.

Day 5. Out of my four eggs three are developing. I tossed the one that wasnt. I cracked it open and it was just yellow mush no veins. Out of the three i can only see eyes in one. The other two have veins coming down from the air cell but i can't find the eyes in them. Should these still be ok?

If they have veins, just let them do their thing! Some eggs can develop a little faster than others or just be more visible when candled.

I didn't see eyes in all of mine until day 7 or 8. One of mine isn't developing, but I'm been afraid to toss it, just in case. :p
