OCTOBER HATCH-A-LONG!!! 2015

Mine isn't really a hatch-a-long October as the eggs have only just gone in to the incubator. I said NO MORE CHICKS this year, but then had a disaster with my ayam cemani's - I ballsed up the humidity and, as a result, ended up with one chick and four dead embryos.

I was at a poultry auction this Sunday and there were Silkie eggs on the cheap, so I picked up 12 and put them in the incubator - due to hatch 13/14 November. As these haven't been shipped I'm hoping hatch rate will be a little better than previous hatches. On my fourth hatch now so gradually getting some experience - not a lot, but some!

I just set a dozen eggs last night from a friend. Got up this morning and the temp was well over 101 for gosh knows how long.

how long can eggs be at and high temp before they are no good? 12 little leg horns I've been wanting for my daughter and I feel like a monster for killing them.

If you have a still air probably not an issue...but, you also didn't say what "Well over 101 is". It's always a cross your fingers and time will tell. I would watch for the temp spikes in the future and expect that they may come earlier now.

I ended up with 33 of the 34 eggs hatching safety! Not bad for a first timer. Off to my next batch, this incubation stuff is great

How long should I told out on my 3 remaing eggs? Yesterday was day 21. I started with 33 of those 9 were clear, not fertile, of the remaining 24 I broke 1

and 20 of the that 23 have hatched. All eggs were active at lock down but now these 3 eggs seem to be still inside.

Of my hatching I had 4 mystery eggs I got from a farmer here locally she had splash, white silkies and silver laced wyandotte what's y'all opion on these chickies.
