October Hatch-A-Long

Thank you for the well wishes! After another hour or so, I decided to help again. The membrane had restuck to the chick's back. I used some neosporin to moisten it, but had to keep working around it. I broke the egg away and there's still membrane stuck to the fluff! The navel was red and sticks out a little, so I put the ointment there, too. I cleared off the vent, just in case. The right eye was stuck shut, so I washed it as best I could and carefully tried to clear away any goo. It's opening a little now. :yesss:

This chick has been dubbed Sticky. Not sure if Sticky will fluff up enough to tell the pattern (legbars are autosexing). But, the first three look like females, and Sticky can be what it is. :)

I had one out of the last hatch my daughter dubbed "Crispy" it was partially zipped but shrink wrapped and we didn't open the bator either. We helped it but it took 3 little chickie baths to wash it clean. It's belly had the same problem too. It dried and is still thriving though!

3 Seramas hatched today... these were eggs from my frizzle hen and it looks like the one that hatched last week is going to be frizzled!!!

It's soooo cute!!

The first one out today is the loudest, most rambunctious chick I've had yet! It is in a brooder now and finally settling down.... thank goodness.

6 out of 11 hatched! The momma hen has done her job well! She kept all 14 of my other chickens away from her chicks and its been cold and she has kept the cats away. 6 hatched one month later with no help from me all 6 are looking healthy!
