October Hatch-A-Long

I have a incubator full as well only 5 are mine, but I have the neighbors eggs in there as well. Mine are 5 lonely True Ameracauna eggs, hoping for all pullets. fingers crossed.

Joining in, I set 12 chicken eggs (not sure what type of chicken the momma is) I have tried hatching her eggs all summer and been unsuccessful; clear, died in the egg, hatched and then died. Today is the day to raise the humidity and I heard a little chirp in one of the eggs, I hope someone successfully hatches this time around. Also I have Daphne(silkie) who is sitting on 12 eggs out in the barn, hopefully she will be more successful then I have been.

I was one day off on my guess when my Broody hen would have her chicks hatch and I hear baby chicks under her today!!! She was sitting on 11 eggs, since I free range she found a spot I couldn't check the eggs to candle them.

I saw my duck off her nest so I grabbed my flash light to check out her 2 developing eggs! They both look awesome!!!

Only one week left! I am so excited to finally see her with babies!! For shipped eggs, they have great air cells, nothing too wonky!! I am really hopeful they will both hatch!

My frizzled Serama laid 2 eggs so hopefully I will get a few more to put in the bator soon! I would love to get one more batch in for October and then give it a rest for the winter (while I build my cabinet incubator!! ) I have been going strong since June with 4 broodies and 4 batches in the incubators... I really want to sell hatching eggs in the spring!! ...and chicks ...and ducklings!!

I have been weighing my 9 egglets. Since I don't recognize what I am seeing.

Starting weight in the 14g carton was 557g. Day 7 was 531g, Day 14 was 498g.

Definitely progressing well for a dry hatch, I think. Raise humidity at lockdown.

:pop

All of my eggs from my flock are developing. 4 our of 7 shiped silkie eggs are developing. and 2/9 eggs are developing from a friends. But her eggs are dark brown and hard to see. Can't wait for these to hatch! 2 more weeks on the silkies!

I'm in awe with my flock... Went out yesterday and noticed a hen had been in the nest for quite a while, removed all eggs from under her, went out this morning, yep, she is still there... Getting into some pretty cold nights here so I figured my girls were done for the year... Not sure if I am going to let her or not yet...She is pretty easy with me, lets me get under her so I may want to let her, but as of right now I have 21 chicks of various ages 1 week-3 weeks with more to hatch ( 7 are mine) next week... I guess I could always sell the extra's this spring..
Ok I talked myself into it. :D. I'll give her until Monday on some fake eggs, if she is really serious I'll slip some fertiles under her

Have I said lately that I love my life :)
