I have aa staggered hatch for october. 6 chicken and 1 quail set on 10-3 and 4 chicken and 5 quail set on 10-10 there would have been 6 cheicken seet on 10-10 but my son dropped 2. The second setting of chicks should hatch on halloween. My kids think that will be cool.

Txmel~
One of the chicks looks older than the others. I have some three week olds in the brooder and I am going to hatch some this week.

Anyone - Do you think I can put them together?

It's so cute listening to them talk to eachother while still inside their eggs.
7- bc marans (from Wynette)
7- olive eggers (from Wynette)
1- ee (from my own flock)

We go into lockdown today with our second batch of marans to hatch. These are shipped eggs from FL to WA (so a very long trip). We had 12 shipped, I candled for the first time last night and we had 2 transparent so I pulled those out. So I have 10 going in for the hatch lockdown. These are expected to be a mix of golden cuckoo, silver cuckoo, and black copper marans.

On our first batch hatched about 2 weeks ago or so, we had 15 shipped and 9 ended up hatching, which was much higher than what I expected after candling early in the incubation period (hence the reason I didn't even bother this time, those darn dark eggs!).

wish us luck!

Today is supposed to be hatch day! We had one hatch last night around midnight. There was just a single pip when I went to bed around 9:30pm and I got up to let the dog out at midnight and she had hatched! No other pips or zips yet though.

My hatcher is finally empty. I hosed it out and sprayed a bit of bleach in it and have it drying now. Mysheeting I use for the floor has been bleached and dried. I'm just about ready to put more in on the 15th, which is tomorrow.

Ive had temps drom down to 96 just about everynight during incubation lately and I still get chicks. I dn't think once will hurt much if at all. If they have curled toes or spraddle leg you will know why.
