So... This might sound silly, but is it known for month old chicks- cockrels and pullets to start showing sexed behavior?

My chicks are becoming nice and tame, which is great for me. I'm not 100% yet who's a roo or hen, but I have a good guess so far.

Today, I scooped up one of my potential tame roos, and he bit down on my finger and started trying to 'mate' with my hand! I was like......:gighe definitely must be a roo. Also too, my potential hens seem more submissive on the other hand.

Is it known for chicks to start acting like that??? Crazy chicks!. Plus very shocking to see them act like that! I also have some already trying to dominate and fight a bit to establish that pecking order.

This is the trouble maker!!!

I recommend not handling rooster chicks as they will become too familiar and will peck and try to correct you. I prefer them to be wary of me. Mine all grow up respectful regardless of breed.

Sometimes you can tell young roosters by their behavior. They are often bold and upright.

I never thought of it like that before! I'll definitely try to distance from them then. The last cockerels I had were fairly distant from me before, so o wouldnt even know.

Some do handle and claim they turn out fine, but in my experiences familiarity isn't a good thing with a young confident hormonal rooster. You become something to dominate instead of just the keeper.
