I know nothing about ducks but sure wonder what would cause this.

No top is clear and shiney. That's a good thought though. Might be some fencing ill check for that!

Yeah, I would think the top would be marked too if he had gotten his bill stuck in something. It's a mystery.

Hi all, so an update. This wound didnt seem to want to heal on one side. So off to vet we went yesterday. Dr said it was a laceration from who knows what and when debris is introduced into the wound, the pus forms a hard casing around it and creates a festering abscess. So she had to give him some drugs to knock him out. Clean out the infection, rinse it, and seal it with glue. $208 well spent in my book. She said the antibiotic spray we kept hitting him with just couldn't do the trick due to the hard casing around the infection. Once she was finished with the procedure, and Louie was still knocked out, she let us clip his wings and learn about his anatomy. Like what his feet actually feel like and bumble foot spots to watch for, how soft his beak really is! Very interesting and educational. Elsa his mate was along for the ride

Precious pictures and great you were able to get him to the vet and have it taken care of. Louie looks very relaxed and I am sure Elsa was a big hit too. They are both beautiful. Thanks so much for updating.
