Odd egg

One of my hens frequently lays eggs with similar hard little bumps that come off when scraped. Our avian Vet Dr. told me they are 'calcium pimples' . Some chickens apparently process Vitamin D differently, resulting in excess calcium on the outer shell.

I was nervous about parasites
Not parasites. Calcium deposits.
One bird may be getting too much calcium, or just doesn't process it 'right'.

What all and how exactly are you feeding?
How old are your birds?
Do you know which one is laying these?

I second aart, what are you feeding? I avoid layer feed because I prefer my chickens to be able to get their calcium when they feel they need it, and not every single time that they get hungry. Plus it has slightly more protein, which supports egg growth and is overall just better for the bird in my opinion :)

Layer feed also has a lot of added vitamins that the birds cant avoid, and if she can't process these properly on top of eating excess, her eggs may end up looking... well, like that! :gig
