Odd mix ducks, by accident

The 2 fawn/white Runners in front are my drakes(2 yrs.) and the 2 behind them are the 2 month old hens I just got. They're so pretty. You should post pics of yours, I'd love to see them. That's my duck flock (minus the Call hens), the others are a 6 yr. old Khaki Campbell hen who is the "momma" to the Call/Runner babies and stays with them all the time, (she looks like a school teacher with her class), a black/lavender Runner cross hen 1 yr. old and a Golden Welsh Harlequin hen who's probably 4.

Ive aquired so many ducks this year! I came into the year with only 5 ducks..... Im at 29 now..

2 Silver runners (female 5mo)
2 Black runners (female 5mo)
9 Blue runners (2 males are 1yr 2mo./2females 1yr 2mo.- 1 male/4 female 5mo)
3 Fawn and white runners (1male/2female 2mo)
1 Pekin (female 2mo)
2 Mallards (male 1yr 8mo)
2 Jumbo pekins (male 5mo)
2 Rouens (1male/1female 5mo)
2 Cayugas (1male/1female 5mo)
2 Bibed calls (1male/1female 7mo)
2 Muscovies (1male which was a rescue aprox age is 6 years/ 1 female also a rescue about 4 years)
And I think I have got them all....

This is them under their fav. tree with their pekin sister (they where bought together and raised together so far)

Here they are agian in the front yard.

And here they are in their night cage. lol. A large dog crate haha. I have gotten one today thats about 3 times the size of that one shown for the runners so these guys and the others got a cage like this so they stop escapeing and makeing messes haha!

They're like potato chips aren't they?, can't have just a few...lol I did the same thing then I re-homed 8, (2 drakes with their hens), and got the 2 buff/white Runner hens to balance the remaining Runner flock out. Now my duck flock is balanced and calm, I had 'drake wars' all Summer long. As soon as 2 of my geese (hens for a lonely gander) go to their new home I will have the 7 geese I want.

Your ducks are lucky to have such a nice place to roam, that's so important for their health and happiness. My ducks and geese roam an acre all day and have a 25'X25' night pen with their 2 houses in it.The ducks in your photos are beautiful, they look so sweet and the rest of your flock sounds so lovely, I bet they're beautiful all together. I would love to see the difference between your Silver and your Blue Runners, do the Blues look like Swedish blues?

I agree with they should have a nice place to roam 100%. My ducks where all free roam until the neighbors threw a hissie. And Im not sure if they runner blues look like the swedish blues. Ill post some pics and see what you think :)

Here they all are 2 male with 2 female before they fully matured.

The one out front is the female blue, Ive noticed that the females tend to have a more spotted pattern and the males are more of a smother pattern. The one thats white is the silver (silver because the blues have silver in their genes rather then "white". and the one next to the silver is one of my drake blues.

This is one of my female blues and the orange feet behind her are one of my blue drakes feet haha. I noticed they go from a dull to a bright orange when they mate more.

This is the pond they have :) Which used to be a cooling pond for a coal breaker across the road but it burned down before I was born so about 20 years ago and now its a canadan goose attraction haha.

And this is is just a sunset picture that I had got the one day last october and I had to share it :)

It looks like your ducks still have some room and that pond is wonderful. I would LOVE to have a nice pond. Mine have large play pools and two 6 ft. round stock tanks. The Calls in the back yard have a large play pool and an 8 ft. oblong stock tank. Even though the Calls have a cinder block staircase into the tank, most of the time they just fly into it.

Your blue Runners do have coloring alot like the Swedish blues do, your gray Runners are gorgeous. What a beautiful color. Your Silver Runner looks alot like the Lavender hen I used to have. I had to re-home my Lavender drake and she was completely bonded to him so I let them stay together. You have a beautiful flock. What could your neighbors possibly have to complain about? it's not like you have 25 geese...

Well, If it wasnt for the pond i would only have kiddie pools, which I have 1 large one small for the cage but Id probably have more!

And to simply put it, the are my "family" and they are douchebags! My aunt has no job and all she does is sit around and be nosey with what the neighbors are doing, find anything to b*tch about and get my uncle to go and deal with it. And I am more then sick of them :) I wish they would just move and never make contact wth us ever!!!!!

My semi wild mallards susposeadly where in their driveway and crapped soooo much that he had to scrub the driveway....... I dont know how a duck could possibly crap that much in the matter of and hour..... They exaggrate everything.... Oh, about 2 months ago I was up really early so I decided to clean everything outside.. The concrete, ducks cages/pens everything. I was keeping an eye on the ducks to make sure they didnt go into their yard... Well at about 1pm I got a phone call after my parents had left (They have a tendancy to call and complain when they see us leave) and My cousin thought no one was home... Well she tried the ol' your ducks pooped in our drive way all over the place.. While on the phone I walked over there.. There was NO duck poo! It was little bird poos like quater sized white dots....... I had called back and ripped into her voicemail because she knew she was lieing.. I cant stand them!!!!!!!!!!!!

That stinks to be stuck with bad neighbors. Can you put up a low fence, just some 3' wire and t-posts, between your property and theirs?, then they cannot complain anymore.

We actually ust got some chicken wire that was cut about a foot and a half tall and about 50 feet long and we put that up, but my runners when they run into it they like flop over it but its a deturrent for the pekins and others that dont stand upright, they dont flop over it haha. But it seems to be working for now atleast..
