Odd mix ducks, by accident

Sasa, those babies are way too adorable. I wish I was all set up and closer, as we are wanting to get some ducks. My grandmother had a white duck when I was young that I adored. Lucy was an awesome duck. My significant other is wanting something more colorful than plain old white, so he's thinking about getting some Welsh Harliquans, or something that is not a solid color.
May i suggest a Rouen if your looking for colourful? i have two Rouens and let me tell you they are the most loving pets. easy to care for and easy to train. its a dream package.

heres a link so you can see what i mean ---->

Technically, the chickens still aren't ours. But they do prefer to be on our property, rather than the property where they originated. It's that whole knowing they won't get chased, caught, beaten, eaten, or otherwise molested thing. I can't really blame them, honestly. There's always food (albeit bugs), and fresh water. Can't say that about their actual "home". They are as close to feral as a human bred chicken can be.

I'll try to get a picture of the hen that likes to ride Princess. She has a group of somewhat young chicks at the moment, so it might take me a bit. She won't jump up on them when she has babies. Oddly enough, it is usually Princess I see them on. I don't know if they just don't like the others, or the others make them get off. The chickens will come out and eat with the horses after we feed their hay, but they won't get close if we are in the pasture.

If anyone wants to see more mini horses, please feel free to check out my website at www.imperialacresminihorses.com . I don't have any chickens as of yet, I'm still in the researching and planning stage. I am starting to get a really good idea of what I want, but I still have lots of researching to do still.

Try Lavender Runners, they are cream and the drakes have silver clouds on them, they are gorgeous. My Lavender Runner drake is a calm and gentle drake as opposed to my Buff/White Runner drakes. They are much more dominant and aggressive. Of course they are DUCKS so the aggression is relative but their hens are jumped on 10 times more than the Lavender's hens. His are calm, their's look frazzled even though my drake/hen ratio is good.

Imperial Acres, this is my Lavender Runner pair in the middle of my black Runner hens.

Ones a silver and ones a lavender..

Ive got 2 silver females. :)

Thank you, Sasa! I love my horses, and it's taken me years to get my herd to where it is now. I'm currently revamping a bit, and looking to get a new stallion. We are so excited about adding ducks and chickens to our family. I can't wait to get started, but I know I don't know enough yet. I would hate to have something happen that is preventable, or I don't know something, and have something happen to my birds. I intend our animals to be pets, as well as working members of our farm. It is important to me that I have a good knowledge base before we get our first birds.

Ducks are simple, I let mine roam and be ducks during the day and put them in a safe pen at night. I give them a stock tank and a play pool to enjoy (wish I had a pond) and provide food 24/7. They are remarkable bug eaters and I watch them go hunting for grasshoppers. Having several hens per drake is wise so you have ducky peace and your hens don't get overbred, those drakes are the most hypersexual animal I have ever seen, even more than my gelding was when he was still a stallion. The Lavender drake is much less so than the Buff/White boys, I don't know if other colors of Runners are different about that too. I have a Golden Welsh Harlequin and she is the sweetest, gentlest girl, I wonder if that whole breed is that way. They are very beautiful and lay very lovely eggs. Ducks are fun.

I just know about the silver ones which come from 2 blue parents. They where little surprises to me loll And yes I love them!! I can sit there all day and watch them if it wasnt for my boyfriend getting bored LOL!!

Okay, these Call/Runner ducks got the worst personality traits of both the Runner and the Call. They are super nervous and domineering (Runner) and very bossy (Call). They are all looks and no personality.
