Odd Request from daughter in the middle of the night

My oldest daughter (six years old) does that sort of thing. She can somewhat answer questions, but really is still sleeping. I find that if I make her go to the bathroom before she goes to bed then she doesn't wake up in a fog/sleep walk. My DD started doing it around age 4 1/2. It is like she is still dreaming or something -- it's weird!

Oh please, I really hope she's not sleep walking! I'll have to put a gate up in her room to keep her from falling down the stairs! And those suckers are steep! She has her well child checkup in a little less than a month, should I mention it to the doc?

Did you ask if she remembered doing that the next morning, gudrin? I did a lot of this kind of stuff when I was a kid. Woke my folks up in the middle of the night to make sure that 8 plus 5 was really 13 once, and another time woke up and went into my parents room to make SURE there were giraffes at the zoo. Funny thing is, I remember doing those things - at the time I guess it seemed important to know those answers RIGHT THEN!

But I don't remember singing in my sleep. I woke my parents with "Born Free" and "Rocky Mountain High" - loud enough to wake them and bring them from their room to mine on the other side of the house. Later in life they quit getting up when they heard me singing - they'd tell me the next morning what I was doing. I still sing in my sleep. Apparently I know some of the words to "Fly Me to the Moon." (The sad thing is, when I'm awake and start singing - my dog flinches...!)

My 4 year old sleep walked in the middle of the night, I would find him playing with his monster trucks. One morning I got up, cleaned the house, made breakfast, (enjoying the lack of kid under foot) and then went to wake everyone up. The baby was not in his bed, the house, or the yard. I freaked out and woke up his daddy and uncle. After an exaustive search, we found him asleep in the garage, UNDER THE TRUCK!!

Then there is my 15 month-old. He LOVES the chickens. It may have been his first word. On Sunday (about 4 am) I heard him crying, so I poked my husband and asked him to go get him. I hear my husband get up, open the kid's door, walk into the living room, then "WHAT THE $%$##?!" The back door had been unlocked and was WIDE open. He found the baby 100 feet from the house, shaking the door of the coop with all his might, SCREAMING at the top of his lungs. He was barefoot and had taken off his diaper: completely asleep. Oddly, none of the chickens were crowing.

Can you say, "cane bolted doors"?

my dd would come downstairs and make a PBJ sandwich and say she was hungry... this would be at about 10 pm well when dh and i went to go to bed at 11 there was the PBJ on hr dresser not a bite outta it

I used to have full conversations with my mom at night, where I was asleep, and she would just tell me to go back to be, and I would. LOL. Now I have a husband that sleep talks, and actually sleep argues with me, and he has said some pretty crazy stuff! I don't mind tho, I get to tease him about it in the morning!

It sounds to me like she may have been sleep walking. One of my 5 year olds used to do that too. And she seemed like she was awake, but in reality, she was sleep walking. She could talk, answer questions, respond to commands, etc. We finally figured out that if she ate after 7 p.m., she would have an episode.

I'm glad it seemed like a totally normal thing. And hopefully she was totally awake and just wanted a high five.

This scares me now, I'll have to ask her about it. I don't know if she'll remember it though, being this late in the day. I should have asked her about it this morning when she got up, but we were more worried about what to have for breakfast and if she should use the bathroom. (Still working on using the bathroom almost as soon as she gets up.)

Okay. Just talked to her. She said that she had the penguin dream with the airplane and she did really well, so she needed a high five. I think she was dreaming of playing on the Wii. There's an airplane game on Wii Sports Resort that she likes to watch us play and she really likes doing the penguin game on Wii Fit.

My daughter never remembers the next day. She hasn't ever went outside (knock on wood) or even tried to leave the house. She usually is like fussing about something or trying to do something. One night she was tattling on her sister - must have been dreaming. They have separate rooms and the whole house was sleeping.
