I have a small flock of 3 guineas and 2 chickens. One is a Barred Rock Rooster and I am pretty sure the other is a buff orpington hen. The problem is that the rooster protects and watches the guineas but not the hen. She will wander off and he doesn't care. but if a guinea is missing he is looking everywhere for it. What is wrong with him? He is about 14 weeks old and the guineas about 16 weeks.

This probably won't help, but I have a goose that protects my hens from our rooster. She will attack and knock him off their backs. Sometimes birds do strange things and all we can do is laugh

My young Marans rooster has decided that he is in love with the duck instead of the hens. I used to have a turkey hen and a brown leghorn rooster that were quite the item together. Some have preferences and aren't prejudice.

well will he want to be around her once she starts laying? I was kind of looking forward to baby chicks...
