Our little bantam (we think is a buff Cochin...input welcomed) rolls on her back when my wife picks her up and falls asleep.

Perfectly normal chick oddity. Loads of mine did it too. Here's one my previous chicks, fast asleep in my hand. Thankfully they outgrow this soon enough! It won't work well on the roost
