OEG genetics for Platinum, Pewter, and Opal

My goal is simple, make them look and feel like OE, before they go anywhere. I let very few go and often only to thise who have extensive experience with OE bantams already. even then we discuss them in detail, where the short comings are and I try to send breeder birds that will help resolve problems. I helped prepare a proposed standard for the variety and now we are need of a few more serious breeders and showmen to meet the APA requirements, ABA requirements are much easier as a "new" color I feel it is better to seek both APA and ABA recognition.
We have made considerable headway in the last two years and are seeing considerable improvement with each generation now. we are really down to wing length, wing carriage, leg legnth is getting much better with this line, as well as body carriage and breast development. Time, patients and hatching large numbers to keep very few has been the big key.

Wouldn't go that far, just very selective about what goes into the pen when improving something. I do not want to re-introduce problems, or add another line into them either so to eliminate un-knowns. By keeping back-ups I can prevent the need to go outside to un-knowns.

Platinum is a cross of Blue and Dun, I am not aware of this in OEGB. But could be done...

Opal is not related to Lavendar in any way. It is a mutation of a few allelles associated with Recessive White. I can help you with this one..

Pewter... never heard of the color.

Unless you have history working with true project varieties i would not suggest Opal for any beginner. they are lacking a great deal in OE size and Type, feather quality etc. When the birds in teh breed pens are truly Opal and not the result of crosses, or a % Opal with decent phenotype they will breed true. Otherwise they will produce soem other odd things based on the other stuff in thier back ground. Sometimes this appears in eye color, leg color, lack of lacing in hackle saddle and wing bow, etc. crosses with birds with dark red hackles will modify the hackle saddle color as well.
Is opal a recognized color for oegb?
