Not really necessary. There's a product called "Blood Stop Powder" that works ok but I usually don't even use that. In most cases the bleeding stops quickly. Actually a handful of cob webs works as well as anything to stop bleeding.
Someone mentioned birds dying of shock. I can't say it never happened but I've bubbed hundreds & it has never happened to me. [just knocked wood-why take chances]
Im pretty handy with my own surgerys having hunting dogs and doing tails ect myself for 15+ years, Im sure I can handle this , but I just envision the birds despising me and for some odd reason I cant convince a single rooster that I am their friend anyhow, that is why I wish we could do it as ckicks(but I know we cant lol) they are going to give me the stink eye , but hopefully they have little pea brains and dont remember what I jsut did to them, maybe a blind fold! Oh hell they all try to spur me anyhow...who am i kidding. I need a handling lesson.
Black on splash should yield 100% blue if it's truly splash. There are splash in plenty of breeds. The question I have is whether he's a brown/red under the splash as I see a hint of it. I'll have to call his breeder.
I love them....have you broken the genes down? I'm working on my genetic prowess, but chicken genetics have A LOT more to it than what's known about horses!!!
Are all the roos 'manly' looking? spurs?
I'm dying to know the genes...I see some creams that look to carry some of the red genes and then you have those silver ones......the difference between ss and Ss or SS maybe? Or with all the mahogany, and red genes possible? gyah. This could be fun. Getting out my book.
This is how porcelain was made or have been educated somewhat...oh an one side note, male female is opposite for birds as XY goes, that threw me for a loop knowing our horse stuff ect...but porcelain is..
"Porcelian breeding is as follows: Self Blue over Spangle two generations breed back on each other = Pearl cross to Buff Columbian to add beige and stripping in hackle, All porcelians will appear similar to Millie Fluer only self blue instead of beige. The Millie is the other side of teh final cross. "
I will send you a link that I think you might like that is like EC

Cool. I think I'm being abused here... Much easier to get someone else to do the work, but I have this big button that says, "PUSH ME" even if I don't push it myself first.
PS - NOT ON THIS THREAD - for clarity - the people here have been HONEST and helpful. I sincerely thank all for that who've tried to help me here. It's a shame that some other breeds are not the same.
