Of Feathers And Flames- A Wings of Fire AU RP

Whitestar returned Austin's nod, remembering immediately after that the human couldn't see him. The Icewing glanced around the small space, trying to find something that would make a reasonable distraction. The alley was lined with a few large, dark green containers, horrid stench wafting from their tops and stinging the inside of Whitestar's nose.
He slid his claws beneath one of the nearby bins and gave a massive jerk. The box was heavier than he expected, but flipped backward all the same, the hinged lids banging against the wall and the metal sides clattered deafeningly against the ground.
The sound echoed through the narrow alleyway, and Whitestar slid up against the wall, hiding even though it wasn't entirely necessary. He let out a slow breath, trying to calm his racing heart. He had rarely ever experienced this sort of danger or adventure in his life, and the thought of breaking into the Scorpion Den of all places had never crossed his mind. He prayed silently that he wouldn't mess up the mission. Who knew what sort of horrid future would result from that.

@Yukiko
Austin cringed at the crash, but stayed alert, ready for one of the guards to come around. Shouting sounded outside the alleyway.
"What in the name of a dragon's hide was that!" One of the guards shouted.
A different guard, one who sounded older than the other, criticized him. "It was probably just a trash bin falling over. Stop being so antsy, will ya."
"Ya...ya." the other guard stuttered. "Just a trash can."
Dang, whiney one eh? There was more silence and Austin could feel the sweat dripping down his neck in anticipation. Finally the younger one spoke again. "But, but, Seymor! What if it's something else?"
"Ugh! If you want to go check it out, then go check it out!" the older one grumbled.
"You're not coming with me?" the other one squeaked.
"Why, bloody would I! It's a trash can! They fall over all the time. the garbage crew will get them in the morning, but if you want to pick them up now, go right ahead."
"But, what if the commander hears that we didn't do our job and secure the area."
There was a long and loud sigh, and then footsteps coming towards the alleyway.
I didn't think that both of them would come.
"See, Johnny, it's just a trash can," the older one said. Austin was hoping that Whitestar was in position to take out the other guard and silently. Austin would take the older one.
Austin peeked around the corner and watched them stand the trash can back up. Hoping Whitestar was paying attention, he jumped on the older one, immediately shoving his hand over the guard's mouth and grappling him.
Muffled yelling came from under his hold and he felt the older man grab his hands and try to pry them off. Gripping the man with all his strength, he tried to push forward at the trash can, but the man pushed back harder. They were shoved back against the alleyway wall, Austin's head slapping the hard brick. The world spun and was blurry as he opened his eyes. He felt his grip begin to slip from the man's mouth and sound escaped his lips.
The guard spun around, "What are you-" Austin shoved off the wall, shoulder in the man's chest. He pushed hard until he was stopped by the trash can and the wall.
Try making a sound now, punk.

King leapt upwards into the sky, unfurling his huge blue and white wings and catching the air gracefully. He kept one talon protectively over Knight and the pouch he rested in, careful not to drop him. Once they were in the air king glanced down at the bustling town. “It’s oddly peaceful for me, the town I mean. I was raised in a trading city, nothing ever got quiet there. But here, In the Nest it’s different, you’re not a dragon on display for humans to oogle at or bid on. You’re free.
Sometimes I sneak up to the watchtower at the north tip of the island and watch the sky at night…you never could do that in the metal holding domes..” he said, a small smile appearing at the side of his mouth.

Marble 😭
A fellow marble fan 😭😭
MARVEL.
That's- I meant-... 💀
Marvel. I meant Marvel.

You said you write a lot? Or have a lot of RP experience? Soo. Coool.

King glanced at her, then back out into the sky. Dragons had started to fly all around and shadows flitted over them every now and then. Suddenly a chill ran down his spine, his crest rose slightly and he felt as if he was being watched. He shook it off, not being able to help literally shaking himself to get the feeling away.
“Speaking of….” Phoenix began slowly.

“Yes?”

Kapok shrugged, sitting up and glancing around the transport. He turned his gaze back toward Shrike, fixing the Cloudwing with another questioning look.

Yeah let’s say he is!

Dred opened his piercing light blue eyes, which seemed to glow in the darkness, but it was just a trick of the light. He lifted his head and cocked it to the side slightly. “Me? I’m still just “that Mudwing”? My name is Dred ya now.”

I want Corvus to, like, BECOME the plot. He's been such a side story, it's actually sad.
Right ok I’ll try my best lol. It’s hard because I’m trying not to deviate from his “canon” too too much so im holding back 😭
King mmd, nodding in agreement. “I’m sure he’s fine, I used to storm off whenever Osprey was getting to be too much, I’m sure he’s just overwhelmed by the Nest. Nothing to worry about.” He said, fully believing it. Out of the corner of his eye king glimpsed an odd looking tail slipping into the shrubbery, too short to be a normal dragons but big enough to worry about. A face looked back from the far off shadows, mammalian-… but, dragonlike as well? In an instant a flood of memories came to him from conversations he’d had with Osprey about a mad dragon. He supposedly took dragons and animals and cut them apart, before putting them together. But whatever he had seen was gone in a flash, was the mountain air confusing his mind? Surely it was a bear or wolf or…a human.
Crap. Craap, crap crap crap. That better not be a human, human with a tail?! Zander didn’t have a tail. Maybe some do?.
“Let’s get to the nursery.”

( @-Kiwi- @Yukiko )

Lol yeah he be sad

Soooorrrrrry!
Phoenix followed King’s gaze, noting how his brow creased with worry. “Uh… yeah,” she said. “Sorry, I wasn’t paying attention- did you see something?”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Corvus had circled Grebe’s Nest twice before he spotted Phoenix’s distinctive fiery feathers. He nearly toppled out of the sky with relief.
The black feathered dragon dove down to her, his mind reeling. “Phoenix!”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Phoenix whirled in the air at the sound of her name. Corvus was speeding towards her, looking agitated. She felt a flash of irritation, but she stomped it down. He looked upset. “Corvus?! What-“

Corvus nearly crashed into Phoenix, grabbing her talons. “Phoenix- we have to go!” he was breathing hard and Phoenix noticed he was bleeding from a few spots.

“Corvus! What happened, you’re bleeding!” she cried, trying to free her talons, but Corvus only held on tighter.

“My grandfather- V-Vulture-,” he panted. Phoenix was alarmed. She’d never seen him like this before. “Breathe,” she said, trying for a soothing voice and probably failing.

Corvus squeezed his eyes shut. “He’s found me.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Corvus could tell Phoenix didn’t understand how bad this was.
She looked alarmed, her blue eyes wide. King hovered nearby, scanning the ground below. Had he seen something?
“Corvus, I- what happened?” Phoenix cried. Corvus could see her feathers sparking.
Corvus glanced around, ears flattened to his head. “It’s not safe,” he said. “We can’t- we can’t talk about it here.”
His heart was racing and his mouth felt dry. The reality of the situation was starting to hit him. He was almost captured. If the mutant had succeeded, Corvus would be Vulture’s puppet.
He would never get to say goodbye to Phoenix.
The thought made his heart twist.
And it could still happen. It wasn’t safe. He wasn’t safe. Nobody was safe.
There’s nothing I can do. I can’t. He’ll kill me.
He’ll kill her.
It’s not safe for her here.
He looked around.
Oh, MOONS. That creature is probably still around. He’s- he’s seen me with her, he knows-
“Phoenix, we have to leave, it’s not safe for you here, he’ll use you- please,” his breathing was speeding up, he felt out of control. He realized his claws were digging into Phoenix’s talons and he recoiled, pulling them close to his chest.
Whitestar whipped his tail around as the guards came into view, catching the closer one in the side of the head and sending him sprawling across the ground. The human lay there, unmoving and Whitestar glanced back towards Austin, just in time to see him slam the second hunter into the green bin and the wall.
That felt too easy.
Austin swayed slightly, and Whitestar turned fully toward him, worry prickling beneath his scales.
"Are you alright?"
Why do I even feel worried? I shouldn't care. He probably deserved a good knock in the head.
"Anyway, let's hurry up with this, we've wasted enough time already."
Austin shook his head to clear his vision. He looked over to see the guard sprawled on the ground and Austin gave a nod of approval to where he thought Whitestar was.
"Are you alright?" the voice came out of thin air. Austin was surprised. He didn't think that Whitestar was worried about him at all. He assumed that the dragon would want him dead after this anyway.
"Anyway, let's hurry up with this, we've wasted enough time already." Austin happened to agree with Whitestar and dragged the two guards to the back of the alleyway. He heard voices coming closer. He swapped clothes with the older guard as quickly as he could and slid the hat on as he heard voices at the front of the alleyway.
"Seymor! Johnny! Is everything ok?"
Heart pounding Austin stiffened and remembered what the guard sounded like and tried to imitate it. He stiffened himself and tried to look as high and mighty as possible while standing over the body of the younger guard. With the older guard tucked safely away at the back of the alleyway, he hoped the plan would work. He knelt over the one named Johnny and pretended to examine him. "No! Blasted Johnny's gone and tripped and hit his head on the trash can!"
One of the other guards entered the alleyway and also looked at Johnny. "My word, he's out cold."
Austin decided to try his luck with his imitation of Seymor. "Did ya think I was bloody lyin?" His heart pounded and sweat seemed to pour down his back as he waited in anticipation for the answer.
"Er...no sir. Of course not," the other guard stutters. 'Sir' huh? Seymor seems to be someone of rank.
Austin stood, hoping the shadows of the night distorted his figure enough. "Get Johnny to some medics. I'll call in another soldier to replace him. I'll probably just get one from inside the building. He got up and bowed his face, pretending to adjust some of the objects on his uniform as he walked by the other guards now gathered around the alleyway.
Putting on his best angry voice as he walked to the doors of the large building, he bellowed, "You lot get back to yer posts!" He glanced back to make sure they dispersed and kept walking. Getting to the door, he let out a long exhale and searched around in his pockets for a key. A grin spread across his face as he felt the cold metal in his hands. Taking his walkie talky, turned it on and spoke. "I need two guards from the first floor to the front doors immediately. One got hurt and I need to call the situation in." Waiting for a response, he finally heard two people, "Yes, sir. Sending two now, sir." Hoping Whitestar was following him, he slid the key in the door and opened wide to walk in and saw two guards approaching. Directing his head again to his belt and grabbing a phone that was on the belt of the guard, he walked past them. "I'll keep watch on this floor until we get a replacement then we'll swap back." He hoped Whitestar was following him inside of the building and continued down the hall until there wasn't anyone close by.
"Whitestar?" he whispered, "Are you still here?"
@-Shade-
(Lol, I hope this doesn't seem too convenient for them. I wanted to write something cool and heist, but realized when I got into it that they don't have many resources. XD)
Also, I just watched the new Mission Impossible movie and listened to the music while writing this, so if it seems a liiiiiitle Mission Imposible-like... that's why. 😅
"Yes."
Whitestar slid through the small door behind Austin, trying to calm his adrenaline-charged heart.
"You know where we're going, right?" he hissed to the human, keeping his voice low and glancing cautiously over his shoulder.
@Yukiko, maybe after they find the archives for the auction they can find another document that lists Tobias as part of the rebellion so we can skip the whole investigation with them trying to find out where Tobias and Eclipse are
Also, just for note, this scene is happening at the same time Alicanto's first scene is
