% of splash from these hens

My math is different than the others for the statistical hatch.

Blue X blue= out of 9 eggs = 4.5 blue 2.25 splash 2.25 black

blue X blck= out of 4 eggs = 2 blue 2 black

blue X spl = out of 2 egs = 1blue 1 splash

so you wind up with 7.5 blue 3.25 splash 4.25 black

approximately 50% Bl 22% SPL 28% Black

My numbers line with Tad's,
with the black hens included I came up with
49.9% blue or 7.48 out of 15 eggs
28.3% black or 4.24 out of 15
21.6% splash or 3.24 out of 15
assuming fertillity and rate of lay being equal

Reminds me of a bit off the old Andy Griffith Show where Andy was trying to make a point with Opie using ratios. "but Pa I can't help thinking about that half a boy" "poor Horatio"

The numbers and percentages are too hard for me . . .
HOWEVER out of the b/bl/spl eggs I got from you I got 50% black and 50% splash . . .
that is if the splash are splash I have been meaning to send you some pics. they appear to be blue with splash's of black I am not sure if that is considered splash? But I think so

Yes, most people don;t really understand percentages. When you are hatching the 10,000 you stated, the percentage totals are usually pretty accurate.

However, the percentages really do NOT apply to the total number of chicks hatched, but instead to the chance each chick has of being a particular colour.
