Can introducing an adolescent rooster put my girls off their laying. I have 5 1yr. old hens who have consistently given me an egg a day since the age of about 6 months.I had no roosters as I'm not interested in raising chickens and I don't like the idea of eating fertilized eggs. A couple of months ago two of my grandchildren wanted new chicks so I let them each get one. Well, as luck would have it, one turned out to be a rooster. He just started crowing two days ago and is about three months old. Now instead of five eggs a day I'm getting two or three. It is also in the 90's here if heat may slow them up. I'm thinking of moving him to the back with the hen we got with him as they don't like to be separated. Any ideas?
