Mix ash with DE....best dust bath ingredients yet... My hens love that combo.

Do you just throw the ash in their coop or do you put it in a container?

Just put it in their 12x10 pen...not in their coop for my 10 ladies.

Can chickens over eat grit and oyster shell?
I poured a small bag out for my hens and in no time they had eaten all of it.

All research I've seen states they will only consume what they need.

Can regular play sand work as grit for the moment? Or does it have to be poultry grit?
