DD and I were walking the property line at the new house and part of the property is leased to a guy who has cattle on it. They are black angus. THEY ARE HUGE!!!! I mean this is coming from just the drive by observer, cows do look big but when your standing up next to a stomping the hoof momma its kinda scary! We rounded a corner by some shrubs and she was standing there with the cutest little calf. I tried to take a picture but NOOOOOO do you think she appreciated me and DD complimenting her. Nope she didnt not one little bit. Stupid heifer!
They are like momma bears.
If one looks to be coming at you, make yourself bigger, hold your arms up and out, stand tall and holler at it in a deep authoritative voice. If that doesnt work, they can run you into the ground without breaking a sweat so find a tree or barn pole and run tight circles around it, cows cant corner. if THAT doesnt work and you can find a golf club, 2x4, or bat, a good solid hit between the eyes or in the back of the leg will make them stop. mostly I just dont go in the pasture from march-sept without DH, a gun, or the pickup. 3 weeks ago when the kids and I picked gooseberries I would move the pickup with us every 20 or so feet. The kids knew that if I hollered theyw ere to jump in the bed without looking back. Black angus are evil. Except Calfy.
Oh God Sparkles you just made me and my DH laugh. I can tell you that I'm just gonna stay on the other side of the fence! Or start carrying a very long 2x4!
