My Polish hen quit laying abruptly last year and I just assumed it was molting or something. She went a year without laying, turns out she was an internal layer and she died a few weeks ago.

Sonoran Silkies got a chocolate Polish to introduce the choc genes into the silkie flock. These are F3s and F4s and are this generation's culls. She has enough silkies with the dun/chocolate gene to let the ones who inherited the "smooth feather" instead of the "silkie feather" go.

Swinging deal for me!

Aww, she was pretty Belle.

The weird thing about mine is that all three stopped laying within two weeks. My black and white EE hen is molting but the other two are not.

Don't see any evidence of fleas or mites, but I think I'm going to dust them and their coop and deworm them. I've been making sure they get extra protein too. Other than that, I guess there's not much I can do. Good thing they at least eat a lot of wood ticks...cause they're sure not doing much of anything else!

Wow! I love that hen right in front, sooooo pretty! Since they have Silkie feathers in their genetics are you likely to get some Silkie feathered chocolates?
