My girls NEVER look too bad at molt, it's like they loose them carefully to keep 90% coverage at all times. I'm waiting for the one who looks like a pre-plucked chicken.

Now granted, the pens look like someone ripped open a few down comforters and featherbeds in each pen.

The wet Orp first pic is a very good stink eye. Like I'm still shaking in fear from that.

Frizzles molt bad. I have 4 frizzled EE hens who just started their molting. Since the contest goes til the end of the year, I figured I had time to let them get really bad before I put a picture in, but that last frizzle is going to be hard to beat!

We're going to get in trouble with Dacs. He never likes it when we talk about chickens on here.

I wonder why that is?

This is my older girls' first molt, so I really didn't know what to expect. So far they each seem to lose just enough to maintain full body coverage at all times - I haven't see any baldish patches on them at all. I'm actually pretty excited because Desdemona's wing feathers are FINALLY starting to grow back from where the rooster wore them off last winter.

After he reads about the goldfish cracker debacle I think he will be thankful we switched to innocuous chicken subjects.

Yup. There is a place about 1/4 mile away, she and SFIL are looking into buying. That'd be SWEET.
